IF THE DEVIL HAD A DOG edition by T K Lukas Literature Fiction eBooks

There is a good chance that much of the new Lukas novel will thrash you about on an emotional rollercoaster ride, and not just because you can easily identify with the well-developed characters. Sadly, far too many readers will likely be able to relate to some of Sidney’s harrowing experiences, but be aware that the main character’s plight may not be the only aspect of this novel that disturbs you. Some of the narrative is so chillingly authentic that, at times, you may stop for a moment and cautiously wonder how much of what you are reading is fiction.

No worries though, Lukas does not allow readers to suffer for long. She mercifully provides something that could actually be a new form of help for the masses, and could ease the minds of many who devour this delicious novel, long after the final page is turned.

To be fair, the entire novel is not harrowing. Parts will make you laugh hard enough to risk ripping a seam in your clothes, while other parts are surprisingly thought-provoking and fascinating, like the various means of communication that Lukas casually mentions between a horse and its rider, and the contrasting diversity of life in Texas.

If the Devil Had a Dog… full of surprises and highly recommended.

IF THE DEVIL HAD A DOG edition by T K Lukas Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I could not stop reading it...aside from the fascinating story, I was pleased with the writing, structure, and proper grammar. As a retired editor, I am oftentimes distracted by "the which witch is which" problem and the flow is hampered by "reign" instead of "rein" when there isn't a royal in sight!. I am finding this to be an increasing problem in the books on my . Is there a shortage of good copy editors out there?. Aside from this rant, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to another one soon.
What a thrilling story of romantic suspense. Loved the flawed characters. Would love to know that the storyline will continue. I would recommend this story for anyone who enjoys suspense, assassins, crime with a touch of romance. 5 stars with hopes to see a book 2 soon.
3.5 stars, intriguing. Stand-alone that is easy to follow.
There is violence.

Interesting storyline. Believable characters with distinct personalities.

I enjoyed this story. I thought that the procedures, actions and reactions of the characters were not realistic.

A woman on the run with her horse and a fake horse? Ship the horse somewhere safe, then she has only herself to hide, worry about during this critical time. Plus she is drinking. How she could even consider letting her guard down is not realistic.

Then the lead studly male with a bionic knee is going back into the operative world? The one he was medically retired from?

Thought-provoking dialogue
Japanese Kanji. “A warrior is worthless unless he rises above others and stands strong in the midst of a storm.”

"Why isn’t there a Patron Saint of You Should Have Known the Fu@@ Better?”

No desire to re-read this story. I am interested in other works by this author.

Remember this is my personal opinion and does not reflect on the author.
Reading a book with this level of action is common with me but the romance is not. That said I enjoyed the story and I LOVE READING BOOKS WITH A STORY SET IN THE AREA THAT I'VE LIVED ALL OF MY LIFE! I went to high school with the author and I'm grateful for her accurate portrayal of our region of Texas. I hope you will give her work a try and I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
T.K. Lukas did a wonderful job of portraying situations all the way from PTSD to spousal abuse to half breed wolves and their treatment. If The Devil Had A Dog was a very good book. It was hard to put it down. Believable, suspenseful, full of horrifying possibilities--all of these elements combined to convince the reader to stay with the story from beginning to end. I look forward to learning more about The Dragon and the woman he has learned to love. The situation with the half-breed wolves is almost as frightening as it is sad. Trust is not easy for any creature that has been hurt or abused.
Fleeing her estranged husband, a powerful lawyer with connections to a Mexican drug cartel, Sidney McQueen ends up in the small West Texas town of Alpine. She has been directed there to find Markus Yeager, a former Marine and CIA special operator, who operates a hunting camp and stables. When he first meets her, Markus’s suspicions are aroused, so he taps into his CIA connections to check up on her. What he learns sends chills through his body; what she’s fleeing is not just an abusive marriage, but a deadly danger that will pit the both of them against the deadly intentions of a band of criminals who do not hesitate to leave bodies in their wake.
If the Devil Had a Dog by T. K. Lukas is a chilling, spellbinding thriller with a romantic underpinning that will keep you up at night—and, probably awake after you finish reading it. The action is well-crafted and nonstop, and the human dynamics are . . . well, just let me say, you’ll identify with all the characters in this book. Some you’ll root for, and others you’ll cheer when they get what’s coming to them.
One of the best books I’ve read so far this year.
Not since Vince Flynn have my dishes sat patiently in the sink and my laundry idle while I read this book cover to cover! I didn't intend to--I just wanted to start a good novel, and then go about my day. I live in Dallas and knew the locations well, but Sidney's personality, plight, and strength of character quickly grabbed me. Add Trevor and Markus and I couldn't let go! Having worked on a suicide and crisis hotline, I certainly saw the abusive husband and T.K. Lukas' authentic descriptions and treatment. Her research was obviously extensive and her handling of characters and plot lines gripping. I'm ready for more--how quickly can you write the next adventure for Sidney and Markus, T.K.?
